Roni Tambasco is a managing director for True Partners Consulting based in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Tambasco has over 30 years of experience dealing with state and local tax issues that primarily surround regulatory requirements for corporations and flow-through entities, including accounting for income tax, income/franchise tax compliance, sales and use tax compliance, and audit defense.

Roni Tambasco has extensive experience in the entertainment, media, and professional sports industries. Mr. Tambasco has provided state and local tax consulting services to nationally recognized companies that: publish newspapers and online content; own television, radio, and cable stations; own cable companies; provide media content and telecommunication services through satellites; manufacture films and other media content; provide services to the film industry; and own professional sports franchises including basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. In addition, Mr. Tambasco has extensive experience in software, manufacturing, and service-based industries.

When he is not working, Mr. Tambasco enjoys various outdoor activities and sharing life skills with the next generation via scouting.

Current Role and Responsibilities

Roni Tambasco has been managing director at True Partners Consulting since November 2009. His 13 years at the helm of the firm's Tampa office speak to his decades of experience with corporate and flow-through state taxation issues. While his primary focus is regulatory requirements, he has extensive experience with developing and implementing integrated tax planning solutions for business entities. He also has experience representing companies before state tax authorities and administrative boards, advising clients on the state tax aspects of merger and acquisition transactions.

Career History

Before joining True Partners Consulting at the Tampa office, Roni Tambasco worked as a director for PricewaterhouseCoopers, or PwC; he was assigned to the state and local tax consulting group and worked in Charlotte, Washington, D.C., and Tampa. He was also a practice leader in the firm's SALT group, or state and local tax group, in North Florida.

Before his 16 years at PwC, his first job following college was as a tax consultant and senior associate at Ernst & Young in the Charlotte area. He worked with the multinational professional services firm for over two years.

Academic History

Roni Tambasco received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida in 1989 and earned his master's degree in accounting with an emphasis in tax at Brigham Young University in 1991. He is a licensed and certified public accountant in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

Much of Roni Tambasco's career has required a beginning-to-implementation view of tax planning solutions in his daily role as a managing director for a tax analysis firm, assisting public and private businesses with financial reporting obligations. Due to his lengthy experience, his expertise stretches to state and local tax requirements, multi-state income, franchise tax, sales, and use taxes, payroll taxes, property taxation, and technology services.

His management skills stretch to building a team of over 30 full-time tax professionals who help True Partners Consulting strive for new levels of success. As a managing director, he is adept at assisting other consultants with their requirements and guiding them to the next stages in their careers.

Roni Tambasco is also experienced in sharing tax information and assisting clients as representatives when it is necessary to appear before state tax authorities and other administrative boards. In many instances, this requires speaking highly in detail about the minor details of corporate taxes and presenting big-picture concepts based on the scope of a presentation or questions asked during a meeting. His expertise and the ability to communicate effectively help make him a true leader in the corporate tax field.

Philanthropy and Charitable Involvement

His lifelong interest in outdoor hobbies and pursuits made Tambasco a perfect fit for the Scoutmaster role in the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his time volunteering with the organization, he has helped over 12 young men work their way through the ranks to Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the organization.

In 2013, he served as a Scoutmaster at the Jamboree and achieved the Woodbadge Award. He is certified to teach more than 30 merit badges.

He also supports the United Way and the Morman Church. His dedication to the church extends beyond financial donations, and he served on a mission in North Carolina.

Tambasco also lends his time to the advisory board of the Accounting Circle Board at the University of South Florida.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

When Tambasco isn't working, he spends time outdoors pursuing various sporting hobbies. Personal passions include fishing, hiking, scuba diving, boating, waterskiing, travel, and more. Most of his hobbies occur at or near the water, and his love for fishing extends to crafting fishing poles.

Scuba diving certifications include full cave diving, normoxic trimix, and full wreck diving. Each dive certificate has unique requirements to promote diver and team safety and demonstrates a next-level commitment to the craft. He has used the experience gained on over 1,000 dives to spearfish and explore caves across Florida and Mexico. Mr. Tambasco likes warm-water reef diving throughout the Florida Keys and Caribbean destinations.

Roni Tambasco would say his favorite hobby is mentoring others, and he devotes time to this pursuit through his volunteerism in scouting and the people he works with.
